PARA PAINTS EYEING DESIGN VISUAL

Para Paints of Brampton, Ontario has given people a new way to see what their decorating projects will look like before the first drop of paint touches the walls. The company has launched Design Vision, a new software package that lets users try out combinations of paint colors using a digital picture or photograph of the room, setting or item they wish to paint. Para primarily sells its line of products to three markets: consumers, designers and contractors, said Kevin Skelly, marketing services manager for Para Paints. The same three markets will be targeted for the new Design Vision package. The software features 2,240 colours from Para's DesignLine III colour line. Once colours have been chosen, users print their selection from a colour printer. The printout comes complete with names and codes of the selected colours to assist in ordering the paint. Promotion of the Design Vision software will include print ads, appearing in consumer, trade and design magazines, Skelly said. Para is also considering television promotion tied in with its sponsorship of the decorating show Debbie Travis' Painted House on WTN. Media relations are being handled by Gail Bergman PR of Toronto. The Design Vision software is available at participating independent paint stores across Canada where Para Paints are sold or online at <http://www.para.com> for $119. Independent dealers have the option to have the software available for in-store customer use, Skelly said.
