IKEA MEETING WITH SIX AGENCIES
By Adnews Staff
Ikea, based in Plymouth Meeting, PA, has initially shortlisted six agencies, including one Canadian shop, to participate in its agency review. The home furnishing retailer placed its North American US$50 to $60 million ad account in review after announcing late last month it was parting ways with incumbent Deutsch of New York. The six agencies include: Crispin Porter & Bogusky of Miami, the Martin Agency of Richmond, VA, Carmichael Lynch of Minneapolis, MN, Fallen and Messner Vetere Berger McNamee Schmetterer, both of New York and Bensimon Byrne D'Arcy of Toronto. Bensimon had to meet a number of requirements to participate in the review including full media planning and buying capabilities. Judy Neer, executive vice president of Boston's Pile & Co., the consultancy handling the review, said the initial list of six will be narrowed down to three finalists following presentations next week. A final decision is expected to be made before the holidays.
