NOODLES GAINING POPULARITY

Canadians' diets could be getting healthier, according to Nielsen Marketing Research. It has found in a survey that the fastest growing category in Canadian supermarkets is oriental noodles, with a 51% increase in sales over last year. Iced tea had the second biggest increase with 42%, followed by nutritional snacks at 31%. Mackerel in cans and jars showed a 24% increase in sales. Frozen pizza, french bread and subs had a 22% jump as did yeast. Sales for coating mixes increased 19%, prepackaged mozzarella cheese increased 17% and bathroom cleaners jumped 15%.
