FARQUHAR NAMED PRESIDENT Y&R TORONTO
By Adnews Staff
The president and chief operating officer of Young & Rubicam Toronto, Darcia Joseph, is leaving the agency. Joseph, in a statement, said "I've made a very personal decision to look at other opportunities, but that won't be for some time yet." Taking over the positions of president and chief creative officer is John Farquhar, currently executive vice president and co-creative director. A search for a new chief operating officer is expected to begin immediately. Joseph first joined the agency in January 1999 as managing director and COO. In June she was promoted to president and COO, succeeding Howard Breen, who was promoted to chairman and CEO of Y&R Canada and president and CEO of Y&R Chicago. Prior to joining Y&R, Joseph was marketing vice president at The Globe and Mail. She has also held senior marketing positions at Rogers Communications and T. Eaton Co. A long transition period is planned during which Joseph will continue as COO.
