MINDSHARE COMES TO CANADA

Following its launch last fall in the U.S., London-based WPP Group plc has now launched its combined media operation north of the border. Toronto-based MindShare Canada joins the media operations of J. Walter Thompson, Ogilvy & Mather and Enterprise Creative Selling into one company. Karen Nayler, former senior vice president, managing director at JWT's media operation, will lead MindShare in Canada as managing director. Also launching is Excelerator Media, a division of MindShare Canada, that offers full media services in a smaller environment. MindShare was originally launched in 1997 by WPP as a global concept. The goal was to blend the media planning and research operations of WPP into a single resource. MindShare Canada launched the beginning of May and counts IBM, Kraft, Kodak, Jaguar, Mattel and Kimberly-Clark among its roster of clients.
