PEPSI LAUNCHES TASTE CHALLENGES

Pepsi-Cola Canada Ltd. of Mississauga, Ontario will be launching Taste Challenges for both its Diet Pepsi and Pepsi brands this summer. The sampling events invite consumers to choose their favorite cola in a blind taste test. The Diet Pepsi Taste Challenge began in April and runs until mid-July in seven cities in Ontario and Atlantic Canada. Taste Challenge promotional materials will also be distributed at event sites and feature the Diet Pepsi Forever Young Manifesto, a list of "100 Youth Affirming Things To Do in the 21st Century." The Pepsi Taste Challenge begins this week in eight cities in Ontario, British Columbia and Alberta. Pepsi Challenge Cards will be distributed at the sampling events offering deals at Famous Players, Playdium, KFC, Music World and New York Fries. A national TV spot breaks this week in Canada. The spot was created by BBDO out of the U.S. and features Ken Griffey Jr. and Pepsi's Hallie Eisenberg. Additional support includes radio spots and promotional materials created by Toronto-based Generatorideaworks for Diet Pepsi and radio spots and promotional materials for Pepsi created by BBDO Canada of Toronto. Media buying for both Pepsi and Diet Pepsi was handled by OMD.
