Tim Hortons readies Super Bowl ad

Tim Hortons will release a new television commercial during the broadcast of the NFL Super Bowl championship game on Feb. 9. The commercial features a football-themed version of “The Hockey Song” by Stompin’ Tom Connors and depicts football as the “second best game.”

“‘The Hockey Song’ is a Canadian anthem,” said Hope Bagozzi, chief marketing officer at Tim Hortons. “Everyone knows the words. It's part of our Canadian DNA. So, when we thought about how to celebrate this weekend, we knew this was the perfect time to remind everyone that while we like football, Canadian culture is unique and that will never change. And even when we cheer for football, hockey is still the best game you can name.”
