Google begins Clutch campaign
By Rob Bale
Google Canada has resumed a marketing campaign for its Pixel line of smartphones called “Pixel in the Clutch.” The campaign, now in its second year, was developed by Cossette. It depicts basketball player Scottie Barnes and play-by-play announcer Jack Armstrong providing commentary on a series of events such as going downtown to a game, going camping and using an online dating application. In each case, a Pixel 9 smartphone is used to handle “clutch” moments. The effort includes television commercials, online video and social media content.
“Building on its continued success, this campaign was all about demonstrating how the Pixel phone can come through in the everyday moments that matter, courtesy of new AI powered features,” said Rohan Sarna, product marketing manager of devices and services at Google Canada. “We loved the comedic chemistry between Scottie Barnes and Jack Armstrong and wanted to build on this concept this year, offering a fresh, entertaining perspective on smartphone technology.”
