Balderson debuts cheesemakers scholarship
By Rob Bale
Balderson Cheese has begun an initiative called “The Balderson Artisan Cheesemakers Scholarship” which is, according to the company, intended to “keep the art of cheesemaking alive in Canada. The effort will provide financial support for up to 25 students enrolled in a full-time cheese-focused educational program. Each recipient will receive $1,000 upon enrollment, followed by an additional $1,000 upon completion. Students can apply online at <http://www.baldersoncheese.ca/scholarship>.
“The Balderson Scholarship is our way of investing in the future of cheesemaking,” said Bindia Wijesekera, brand manager at Balderson Cheese. “We want to encourage the craftsmanship that is at the heart of our brand and encourage prospective cheese artisans to explore this highly-skilled field.”
