Calgary debuts new logo
By Rob Bale
Calgary Economic Development and Tourism Calgary have debuted a new logo and visual identity to accompany the new brand for the city announced in April. The branding, which uses the tagline, “Blue Sky City,” makes use of imagery based in beadwork and featuring the colours red, blue and yellow. According to the organization, the imagery is intended to symbolize “the story of each individual Calgarian,” and how “the sum of their parts is greater than the whole.” Calgary Economic Development and Tourism Calgary are developing national and international marketing campaigns featuring the new brand and intended to attract visitors and investment.
“As a city evolves, so too does its brand,” said Alisha Reynolds, president and CEO of Tourism Calgary. “Tourism Calgary works every day to attract national and international visitors to our city, which in turn injects billions of dollars into our economy. Having a strong brand, one that honours our past while also embracing who we are today, is an investment in our city.”
