Skyscanner conducts basketball campaign

Travel company Skyscanner has begun an out-of-home advertising campaign in Ontario timed to coincide with the National Basketball Association playoffs. The effort consists of billboards in Hamilton and Kitchener, ON that encourage consumers to travel to NBA games to see players from those cities: Jamal Murray of the Denver Nuggets and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of the Oklahoma City Thunder. A digital billboard truck will also be used. One execution displays the copy, “Kitchener to Denver. For great flights to support your hometown hero, visit Skyscanner.” Skyscanner operates a mobile application that compares travel prices.
“Canadians are really showing up and standing out during this year’s NBA playoffs,” said Andre Le Masurier, global head of brand at Skyscanner. “As a proud fellow Canadian, it’s such a feel good story and we saw this as a great opportunity to not only support these talented hometown heroes but also help some fans jump on a last-minute flight to support Jamal, Shai and their teams in their playoff run.”
