Interac readies Fraud Fighters initiative
By Rob Bale
Payment processing company Interac is preparing an initiative called “Fraud Fighters,” intended to educate consumers about preventing financial fraud. The in-person program will combine advice on fraud prevention with boxing classes. The first free events will be conducted on April 13 and 20 in collaboration with the Toronto-based United Boxing Club and financial blogger Reni Odetoyinbo. The initiative also includes online materials and national media relations. The effort was developed by Hill & Knowlton, with digital support from Group SJR and media buying by Media Experts.
“While the tech-celeration has made Canadians a more frequent target of fraud, ongoing education and awareness can help individuals identify fraud with speed and agility and outsmart fraudsters,” said Joanna Schoneveld, fraud management leader at Interac. “The curated ‘Fraud Fighters’ experience will help participants sharpen their awareness, build their endurance and boost their self-confidence, all of which build an important foundation to help Canadians combat even the newest forms of fraud.”
