Takeda begins rare disease campaign

Pharmaceutical company Takeda Canada has begun a campaign called “I Am Number 12” to coincide with Rare Disease Day on Feb. 29. The national campaign, which is being conducted in association with 13 Canadian rare disease organizations, seeks to raise awareness of the one in 12 Canadians who will be affected by a rare disease in their lifetimes. The digital initiative presents the personal stories of a number of people involved with rare diseases. Consumers are invited to contribute their own stories via social media.
“Rare Disease Day is a symbol of hope for millions of Canadians impacted by rare diseases,” said Rute Fernandes, president and general manager of Takeda Canada. “We acknowledge the significant contributions that are essential to support the rare disease community. Takeda is honoured to partner with rare disease organizations who work tirelessly to advocate for the one in twelve Canadians affected by a rare disease.”
