Satellite Radio company Sirius XM Canada has resumed its “Top of the Country” contest for a sixth year. The initiative is being conducted in collaboration with the Canadian Country Music Association. The contest takes the form of a competitive search for new Canadian country music performers. Musicians can enter online at <http://topcountry.siriusxm.ca> until Feb. 2. Eight semi-finalists will be chosen by a judging panel to record music in a studio. Public voting will determine three finalists, who will perform at a series of live events over the summer. The grand prize winner will receive $25,000 along with mentorship activities. Two runners-up will each receive $10,000.
“We are thrilled to call on Canadian country music talent to register this year, reaffirming our commitment to discovering and developing exceptional artists in Canada,” said Michelle Mearns, vice-president of programming and operations at SiriusXM Canada. “This has become a significant platform for artists to showcase their skills and take their careers to new heights, and we're extremely proud to be able to provide this opportunity.”
