Kijiji launches Wait-listening promotion
By Derek Winkler
Online classified advertising service Kijiji has debuted a new podcast called “Wait-listening” to promote its vehicle listings. The podcast, which takes five months to listen to, is intended to give consumers something to do while they wait the average of five months for the delivery of a factory-ordered car, according to the company. The podcast was generated by OpenAI’s ChatGPT machine learning software and will consist of automotive-themed content delivered by a text-to-speech program. The podcast will run 24 hours per day for five months in English and French at <https://waitlistening.com>. The effort was developed by BBDO, in collaboration with Citizen Relations and Capital Image.
“With shortages and wait times delaying factory-ordered vehicles, we want to shine a light on the fact that we have over 200,000 vehicles on Kijiji Autos available right now instead of five months from now,” said Adam Jardine, chief marketing officer at Kijiji. “There's as much reason to wait five months for a new car as there is to listen to a five month long podcast.”
