Taco Bell promotes Mexican Pizza

Fast food chain Taco Bell Canada has begun a promotion for the limited-time return of a menu item called Mexican Pizza in Canada on Feb. 6. The effort includes a review of the product by ChatGPT, a natural language processing program developed by OpenAI, which described the pizza, in part, as “a delicious and satisfying fast food option that offers a unique twist on the classic pizza dish.” The promotion also includes influencer activities and social media content. Taco Bell is a subsidiary of Yum Brands.
“We knew how disappointed fans were to learn Mexican Pizza was absent from Canadian menus following the item’s return to the US in 2022,” said Rohit Sharma, senior marketing manager at Taco Bell Canada. “We heard our fans and are excited to bring Mexican Pizza back to Canada. But why take everyone’s word for how great it is? ChatGPT is having a moment in the cultural zeitgeist, and the idea of using the tool to review our own cult menu item seemed like a fun opportunity.”
