Unifor launches website for journalists
By Adnews Staff
Private sector union Unifor has launched a new website intended to provide assistance to journalists and media workers facing harassment, particcularly via social media. The site provides counseling advice for Unifor members, non-members and freelancers, as well as advice on documenting abuse, reporting harassment to employers and police, and advice on protecting personal information. The site is located at <https://www.uniformedia.ca/helpishere>.
“The harassment journalists face on the job is simply horrific,” said Unifor secretary-treasurer Lana Payne. “It is often racist and misogynist, and cannot be tolerated. This site will be there for them to help them in their moment of need.”
