The National Basketball Association and publisher Slam Media have launched a Canadian edition of their basketball magazine called Slam Canada. This is the first time Slam has produced an international edition. The first augmented reality-enabled issue will include three collectible covers depicting “the past, present and future of Canadian basketball.” These incluse images of Canadian NBA players Steve Nash, Kia Nurse and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. In addition, a metal collector’s version of the publication will be released. It can be purchased online at <http://www.slamgoods.ca>. The magazine is being sponsored by the NBA and by Tangerine Bank.
“We’re excited to celebrate and connect the growing culture of basketball in Canada,” said Mark Starkey of Slam. “Launching Slam Canada is a telling sign of the incredible growth of our global game. Celebrating the NBA’s 75th Anniversary and nearly 30 years of Slam, we felt it a perfect time to officially launch a geo-specific Slam platform in partnership with the NBA and Tangerine.”
