News Media Canada begins awareness campaign
By Adnews Staff
News Media Canada, the national association representing the Canadian news media industry, has begun a campaign intended to raise awareness of the importance of Canadian journalism. Developed by Craft Public Relations and The Greater, the campaign is timed to coincide with National Newspaper Week. It comprises a print and digital newspaper ad campaign in local, regional and national newspapers. Approximately 350 newspapers are participating. It also includes magazine advertising and billboard ads in seven provinces, as well as a national influencer and public relations component.
The campaign features an artwork called “Champions” by visual artist Ola Volo, intended to “celebrate Canadian journalism.” The artwork will be sold as a limited-edition signed print and as a softcover journal. Part of the proceeds will be donated to Canadian Journalists for Free Expression.
