Real estate development company Cadillac Fairview, in association with the Canadian Olympic Committee, will conduct a promotional event on Aug. 12 to welcome back Canadian athletes returning from the Tokyo 2020 Games. The drive-in event will take place at the CF Sherway Gardens shopping mall in Toronto. It will feature performances by musical acts Elijah Woods and Jessia, as well as Olympic athletes Melissa Humana-Paredes and Sarah Pavan. The physical event will be limited to 120 cars, but the event will also be streamed live on YouTube. COC sponsor Sobeys will operate a free mobile food service, while sponsor Mondelez will provide attendees with free Oreos cookies and Ritz crackers.
“We're extremely proud of Team Canada, especially our talented roster of eight female athletes, for their efforts in Tokyo,” said Andy Traynor, general manager of CF Sherway Gardens. “The Homecoming event is our way to rally our enthusiastic community and fans to show our collective pride and support of their resilience and determination during a difficult year and celebrate what they've achieved at Tokyo 2020 this summer.”
