MS Society prepares MS Walk initiative

The Toronto-based Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada is readying a fundraising initiative called the “MS Walk.” The annual effort will run through the month of May, which has been designated MS Awareness Month. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the national initiative will not include in-person events. In their place, the organization will encourage participants to conduct personal walks in their own communities. The society suggests alternatives such as walking around a backyard, a local block or a hiking trail. The initiative includes a website at <http://www.mswalks.ca> at which participants can register. In addition, the organization will conduct an online live stream event on May 30.
“The MS Walk is a meaningful way for communities across the country to come together to show support, spread awareness and raise funds,” said Becky Mitts, senior director of community fundraising at the society. “No person living with multiple sclerosis should ever have to walk alone.”
