Boston Pizza begins weighted napkin contest

Restaurant chain Boston Pizza has begun a new promotion for its Meal Deals featuring an item called the BP Weighted Napkin. According to the company, the three-pound napkins are intended to apply the calming effect attributed to weighted blankets to consumers of Meal Deals. The purported point is to “alleviate mealtime tension.” A limited run of the napkins, along with five $100 Boston Pizza gift cards, will be awarded to people who follow the company on social media site Instagram and post a reply to the contest announcement that tags another consumer. The campaign was developed by John St. of Toronto.

“We invented the weighted napkin with Meal Deal people in mind,” said James Kawalecki, vice-president of marketing at Boston Pizza. “We know meal planning can be stressful, so the weighted napkin and our new Meal Deals are intended to help lower the stress.”
