Alzheimer Society readies The Quest
By Adnews Staff

The Toronto-based Alzheimer Society of Ontario will launch an online fundraising initiative called “The Quest” on Feb. 1. This will be the first time the charitable organization has conducted a virtual fundraiser, which will take the place of its annual “Walk for Memories” initiative this year. Located at <http://www.jointhequest.ca>, participants will take on the role of a hero facing a series of challenges focusing on “mind, body, spirit and care.” Activities will include yoga, a 5k walk, a trivia night and a cooking lesson, among others. Once each challenge is completed, participants will receive a virtual badge that will allow them to progress to the next. The effort will run until Feb. 27.
“Our community is fiercely committed to raising funds to make a difference for people with dementia, Alzheimer's disease and their caregivers, especially during a pandemic,” said Cathy Barrick, CEO of the society. “The Quest provides an opportunity for families to get involved in a fun and creative at-home initiative, and support people who are living with dementia in Ontario.”
