The Canadian Debtors Association, an organization based in Hamilton, ON and representing companies in the debt management business, has adopted a designation intended to identify professionals who have been qualified by the association. Graduates of a certification program will be entitled by the association to adopt the designation of Certified Debtor Advocate. According to the organization, the program will focus on ethics, behavioral financial coaching, leadership, fundamentals of advocacy and the anatomy of the debt system.
“The designation program espouses the fundamental tenets of truth, trust, integrity, expertise and respect,” said Henrietta Ross, president and CEO of the association. “This credential is built upon and reflects a set of competencies that demonstrate the essential skills of debtor advocate professionals and acknowledges their expertise as uniquely qualified with superior ability. The Certified Debtor Advocate designation elevates the professional quality and effectiveness of those who assist debtors by insisting upon a higher bar of training and educational requirements.”
