Volkswagen conducts Volksgiving promotion

Automaker Volkswagen Group Canada has begun a third annual initiative called “Volksgiving” that highlights the work done by people supporting their communities during the COVID-19 pandemic. The company conducted a national search for Volkswagen owners who have provided community assistance during the pandemic and delivered to them surprise messages of thanks from those close to them.

Eighteen consumers selected from a list of nominees were told they would be interviewed as part of a film about essential workers. During these interviews, a television screen provides a videoconference of messages of gratitude from friends, family members and co-workers. Each participant also received a gift from a personalized letter from Volkswagen Canada and a of thanks. These includes a cottage weekend in Muskoka, a wellness retreat in the Laurentians and a paddleboarding weekend in Kelowna, among others. The promotion includes an online video depicting these events.

“Many Canadians have experienced the selfless, heroic acts our essential workers fulfill every day to keep us healthy, safe and cared for and we are so proud that many of these are Volkswagen owners,” said Lynne Piette, director of marketing at Volkswagen Canada. “As members of the community and Volkswagen family, we wanted to show our gratitude by giving these individuals something memorable and unique.”
