Tides Canada rebrands as MakeWay
By Adnews Staff
Vancouver-based environmental charitable organization Tides Canada has undertaken a rebranding initiative. The organization will now operate as MakeWay. According to the organization, the new name better reflects “the momentum of change it enables.” The rebranding also includes a new logo and website at <http://www.makeway.org>. According to the group, the new brand is intended to counter misinformation about its activities and to avoid confusion with the US-based Tides Foundation. The introduction of the new brand coincides with the 20th anniversary of the organization.
“No organization takes on a name change lightly,” said Joanna Kerr, CEO of MakeWay. “But it was clear that the time has come to define ourselves. For too long we've been defined by others. In these tragic and hopeful times, MakeWay's purpose is ever clear. The gaping inequities laid bare by the virus and the anti-racism protests crystalize how much justice matters. New leadership is rising, and the dramatic changes needed to tackle climate change and biodiversity loss seem more possible. More of us are seeing our interconnectedness. Right now, there is an opportunity for a transformative shift, and it is time to make way for nature and communities to thrive together.”
