Postmedia Network of Toronto has launched a new initiative called “Postmedia Supports” that is intended to raise awareness of and funds for local people and businesses affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. As part of the effort, Postmedia will contribute an initial $2.5 million in marketing services and media space in its print and digital properties to organizations working to counter the spread of the virus. These include Covidquestions.ca, Second Harvest and United Way Centraide, which will run messages about public health, encourage donations to food banks and raise support for the most vulnerable members of local communities. In addition, Postmedia has launched a free digital business directory intended to connect consumers with local businesses.
“Postmedia is proud to support so many Canadian institutions and businesses during this unprecedented crisis,” said Andrew MacLeod, president and CEO of Postmedia. “Many of our publications have been an integral part of the Canadian fabric through extraordinary events over the last 100 years. Now is the time for institutions to come together and support each other.”
