Sobeys introduces Seniors Shopping Hour

Grocery store chain Sobeys has begun a new retail initiative called Seniors Shopping Hour. During the program, participating stores will dedicate their first hour of operation each day to providing a “calm, relaxed environment” for consumers most at risk of the COVID-19 virus. The program is already in effect at some stores in Alberta and Newfoundland, and will roll out nationally by Friday.
“The government has made it clear that those most at risk, including seniors, should stay home and encourages family, friends and neighbours to help support them during this terrible virus,” said Michael Medline, president and CEO of Sobeys. “But for those that need to get essential supplied, let;s make shipping a little easier.”
