Pinch Social recently conducted a promotional event in Toronto to coincide with the end of Diabetes Awareness Month in Canada. Called “Unboxing Type 1,” the one-day event was intended to address digital technology as experienced by individuals with type 1 diabetes. It included talks from influencers and social media experts on subjects such as stigma, online bullying and privacy. The event was produced in association with Novo Nordisk, Langton Communications, Connected In Motion, Dunking for Diabetes, Oh My Okra and Social Media Week.
“With ‘Unboxing Type 1,’ we're hoping to create an environment where individuals with type 1 diabetes who are looking to flourish and expand their brand in the realm of social media feel supported and confident in themselves and their skills,” said Michelle Pinchev, lead strategist at Pinch Social. “This event is the first of its kind in Canada and wasn't only created to bring awareness to the cause, but it was also intentionally created to provide guidance, connection and a space where the T1D influencer community can explore and further develop their content creator skills.”
