The Calgary Society for Persons with Disabilities has begun a new advertising campaign called “Visability for Disability.” Developed by Wax of Calgary, the campaign is timed to coincide with the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. It is intended to raise awareness of the organization’s work in support of more accurate representation of people with disabilities on North American television. The creative includes an online video depicting a focus group reacting to fake television commercials featuring people with disabilities. The execution directs viewers to a campaign website at <http://www.visibilityfordisability.ca>.
“Audiences are asking to see more diversity in our media,” said Mickey Greiner, executive director of the society. “Despite being the largest minority group in the world, people with disabilities have been largely left out of this important cultural conversation.”
