Curling Canada begins new campaign
By Adnews Staff
Curling Canada has begun a new advertising campaign intended to raise awareness of the sport and increase ticket sales. Developed by Cossette of Vancouver, the campaign features a spokescharacter named Doug, an inexperienced curling commentator, interviewing a series of Canadian curlers in the style of a post-game show. Television commercials will run on TSN, CTV and Global, accompanied by online video, print, digital and out-of-home advertising, as well as social media content. The organization has also redesigned its website to coincide with the new curling season. The campaign will run until March, 2020.
“People are hungry for authentic experiences and it doesn’t get more up close and personal than curling,” said Katie Ainsworth, executive creative director at Cossette. “This campaign is delightful and fun, just like the experience of attending a curling event. Doug was a fan-favourite last year and he’s back to motivate core fans to buy tickets and to introduce new ones to the game.”
