Calgary-based airline WestJet has begun a new initiative in collaboration with the Indigenous Tourism Association of Canada. Over the next three years, the company will provide $100,000 in funding to programs intended to promote indigenous tourism in Canada. In addition, information about participating tourism destinations will be offered to consumers via WestJet’s in-flight entertainment system and magazine. WestJet will also be the official airline sponsor of the annual International Indigenous Tourism Conference.
“Bringing people together is what we do and, in that spirit, we are partnering with indigenous peoples, entrepreneurs and youth of Canada by sponsoring ITAC,” said Arved von zur Muehlen, chief commercial officer at WestJet. “In doing so, we are proud to support indigenous stories, history and culture across Canada and the globe.”
