McDonald's readies Happy Meal anniversary promotion

Fast food chain McDonald's is preparing an international promotion to coincide with the 40th anniversary of the Happy Meal menu item. In 90 countries, for a limited time, a menu item called the Surprise Happy Meal will be sole at participating restaurants. Each meal will include one of 15 toys that have appear in past Happy Meals from 1988 to 2013. In Canada the promotion will run from Nov. 7 to 10.
“Happy Meal toys are as synonymous to childhood as the iconic red boxes are to the McDonald's brand,” said Antoinette Benoit, chief marketing officer at McDonald's Canada. “Now, parents can share fond memories with their kids while creating new ones as they unbox their Surprise Happy Meal to discover an old favourite.”
