Montreal conducts Impactful Reminder campaign

The City of Montreal has begun a promotion called “Impactful Reminder” intended to raise awareness of the dangers of mobile phone use while driving. Developed by Sid Lee, the promotion takes the form of a four-day installation at Place Jacques Cartier which displays recreations of the wreckage of three vehicles that were in accidents caused by texting while driving. The displays are based on the personal stories of three Quebec residents who were involved in the accidents. Consumers can read these stories by sending a text message to a number attached to each car.
“Although we all know we shouldn’t use our phones while driving, most people seem desensitized to the issue,” said Éric Alan Caldwell, head of planning, transportation and the public consultation office for Montreal. “We hope this exhibit will incite Montrealers to take action and raise awareness amongst their peers.”
