NexTech AR debuts new online retail service

Toronto-based augmented reality company NexTech AR Solutions has launched a new service aimed at online retailers called Try-It-On. The service uses facial tracking and computer vision technology to allow consumers to preview how they will look wearing products such as eyeglasses, headwear or jewelry using a desktop computer of mobile device. According to the company, the service can also be embedded in banner ads and social media posts.
“One of the most significant pain points that remains in online retail for a consumer is the inability to try something on before they buy it,” said Evan Gappelberg, CEO of NexTech. “This often leads to frustration, the ordering of incorrectly sized items and unnecessary returns that are costly to the retailer. NexTech's new technology eliminates the issue by enabling retailers to offer a virtual fitting room to their consumers to assess the look and fit of an item before purchase.”
