WestJet begins holiday campaign

WestJet of Calgary has released an online video called "Uniting Through Traditions" as part of a holiday season campaign. The campaign depicts holiday traditions from 16 countries as experienced by the airline's Blue Santa character. The video depicts a reunion between two parents in Halifax and their daughter in London, England. Accompanying the video is a social media component in the form of an Advent calendar. Until Dec. 25, the calendar will reveal daily information about global holiday traditions via Twitter and Facebook. The campaign also features a contest which consumers can enter by using WestJet's location finder. The winner will receive airfare for two to any WestJet destination.

"The storytelling in WestJet's Advent calendar and 'Uniting Through Traditions' video underscores that being with the ones you love during the holidays is the greatest tradition of all," said Richard Bartrem, vice-president of marketing communications at WestJet. "Since our first 'Christmas Miracle' in 2013, WestJet's tradition has been to celebrate and promote the Christmas spirit with our guests through our caring culture. This year we're thrilled to be able to take our Canadian spirit to the world through Blue Santa's travels, while bringing some of the world's spirit back home with us to share."
