Pyxus International hires J. Walter Thompson

Agricultural company Pyxus International, based in Morrisville, NC, has retained J. Walter Thompson Canada of Toronto as its global marketing agency of record. The assignment includes a rebranding of the company intended to enhance its consumer packaged goods business. This includes a new name, brand identity and marketing program. The company remains formally known as Alliance One International. The new brand name Pyxus, related to the Greek word for compass, is intended to convey a "commitment to explore new directions," according to the company. J. Walter Thompson won the account in a competitive pitch process conducted in the spring.
