Tim Hortons has released an online video depicting a recent visit to Canada by the Kenya Ice Lions, the only hockey team in Kenya. According to the company, Tim Hortons offered to bring the team to this country to play a game when it heard that the Ice Lions have no one to play against in their home country.
The 12 team members also received new hockey equipment from CCM and personalized jerseys. Professional hockey players Sidney Crosby and Nathan MacKinnon then joined them on the ice as players. Tim Hortons also made a donation to the Kenya Youth Hockey League. The three-minute video, called "The Away Game," was produced by Zulu Alpha Kilo of Toronto.
"In Canada, and as a company, hockey is part of our DNA," said Jorge Zaidan, head of marketing at Tim Hortons Canada. "We are so inspired by the story of the Lions. Despite having no other teams to play against, the players on the Kenya Ice Lions' passion for the game is unwavering. Their shared passion and love of the game knows no borders."
