WestJet launches online chatbot

Calgary-based airline WestJet has debuted a new social media service called "Juliet" which takes the form of a Facebook chatbot. According to the company, the program uses artificial intelligence technology to help discover travel destinations and book flights. The service is available in English and French at <https://www.messenger.com/t/westjet>. According to the company, this is the first service of its kind from a Canadian airline.

"Juliet is the first of many ways WestJet will be raising the bar using digital [technology] to improve the guest experience and make the travel journey easier and more enjoyable," said Alfredo Tan, chief digital and innovation officer at WestJet. "A majority of internet users are already using a messenger platform, including Facebook Messenger. Launching Juliet gives even more access to quick, simple support on a platform that a majority of our guests already have at hand."
