Hema-Quebec begins awareness campaign

Automaker Toyota Canada has signed a sponsorship agreement with Héma-Québec of Montreal, an organization that manages donations of blood, stem cell, mother's milk and human tissue in that province. The sponsorship will support the organization's Public Mother's Milk Bank, which provides breast milk to new mothers and hospitals caring for premature infants. The support is intended to improve the operation of Héma-Québec's production facility in Montreal. The sponsorship also includes a new campaign called "Help Bring Them Home," which is intended to raise awareness of the milk bank and to attract donors.

"Improving the operations of the mothers' milk bank requires teamwork, partnership and collaboration," said Smaranda Ghibu, acting president of Héma-Québec. "Thanks to Toyota's work with Héma-Québec, the Public Mothers' Milk Bank team has learned from the philosophies of the world-renowned Toyota production system and has been able to identify opportunities to increase capacity more rapidly. This joint collaboration translated in sound results, enhancing productivity and maximizing available resources. What seemed to be an unlikely partnership has turned out to be a perfect match."
