Civic Theatres Toronto begins contest

Civic Theatres Toronto has begun a national contest promotion to choose a new name for the organization. The effort begins with a call for submissions which will run until April 27. Following this, a judging panel will select five finalists which will be posted online for public voting in May. The winner will receive a prize package consisting of tickets to events at the Sony Centre, the Toronto Centre for the Arts and the St. Lawrence Centre, as well as a trip for two to Toronto. Submissions can be made online at <>.

"It's a new era for Civic Theatres Toronto and it's time for a name that captures the excitement and scope of what we will be offering in our future programming," said Clyde Wagner, president and CEO of Civic Theatres Toronto. "We invite our audiences, artists, creators, producers and business colleagues to submit a new name. We're seeking a name that evokes the idea that our organization is where artists, performers, and audiences, of all cultures and interests converge."
