BritBox launches in Canada

A new online video streaming service called BritBox has launched in Canada. The subscription-based video-on-demand service specializes in British television programs. Content will consist of current and past British television series, including dramas, news programs and soap operas. The service is available through a website at <>, as well as through mobile devices and connected television devices. BritBox is a joint venture of BBC Worldwide and ITV.

"We know that Canadians have a deep affinity for British culture and the extraordinary television programs produced in the UK, so launching BritBox in Canada has always been at the top of our list," said Soumya Sriraman, president of BritBox North America. "The fact that we can also, for the first time ever, premiere some of the most popular British programs and big special events such as Trooping the Colour as soon as 24 hours after their UK premiere is, hopefully, the cherry on the sundae."
