Hakim Optical debuts Virtual Try-On app

Toronto-based eyeglasses retail chain Hakim Optical has introduced a new online service called the "Virtual Try-On." The service takes the form of a mobile application for Android and Apple devices, as well as a desktop computer version at <>.

Consumers can use the augmented reality software to virtually try on various pairs of glasses using an image of their own face. Users can sample different frames and lens tints, and adjust the fit of the glasses on their nose or at their temples. Users can also save an image to share via social media in order to receive a digital coupon.

The software was developed by VusionVR of Toronto and implemented by Idig Marketing of Oakville, ON.

"Consumers seek social approval before purchasing glasses, especially when it comes to fashion forward frames," said John Worden, vice-president of marketing at Hakim Optical. "This application removes the friction and allows consumers to poll their friends and social peers before making the purchase."
