Corus, Discovery form children's content venture

Nelvana, a subsidiary of Corus Entertainment, has formed an agreement with Discovery Communications to produce children's content for Canada, Latin America and other international markets. The as-yet unnamed joint venture will be based in Canada and will operate as an independent unit producing television and digital content. Discovery Kids and the various Corus children's properties will commission content from the unit.

"This new venture was born from two businesses who have built a reputation for entertaining, inspiring and informative storytelling," said Scott Dyer, president of Nelvana. "The inception of the venture comes at a time of strong and increasing demand for kids' content globally, boosted by insatiable viewing via digital streaming services. Our mutual goal is to create a new pipeline of kids' content for distribution across the world."
