Bladder Cancer Canada begins See Red campaign
By Adnews Staff
Bladder Cancer Canada has begun a campaign called "See Red?" timed to coincide with Bladder Cancer Awareness Month in May. The effort consists of an online video intended to raise awareness of the warning signs of bladder cancer, particularly blood in the urine. The creative urges viewers to consult a doctor if they see this symptom. Other symptoms of bladder cancer include bladder spasms, increased frequency and urgency of urination and a burning sensation during urination. The video is being supported with social media activities and online materials at <http://www.bladdercancercanada.org>.
"Our video is meant to educate Canadians about the most common symptom of this disease and prompt people to act on it by speaking to their doctor," said Ken Bagshaw, chair of Bladder Cancer Canada. "As a bladder cancer survivor myself, I know the shock that a person will feel if they see blood in their urine. My hope is that no one who experiences this sign ignores it. Rapid action could save their life."
