RBC conducts virtual reality promotion

RBC of Toronto has begun an virtual reality promotion in support of its RBC Rewards loyalty program. The promotion is in operation at various shopping malls until Dec. 31, including the Yorkdale Shopping Centre in Toronto, the Metropolis in Burnaby, BC, the Halifax Shopping Centre in Halifax and the St. Laurent Shopping Centre in Ottawa.
According to the company, consumers who make use of the VR headsets at these locations will experience "an immersive journey into the world of rewards" such as a trip to a tropical beach, a golf course or new kitchen. Each presentation includes an interactive carousel of related products which are available through the rewards program.
Some RBC locations are also distributing Google Cardboard headsets for use with smartphones, allowing visitors to <http://www.avionvr.com> to view the scenes. This is the first time the bank has use virtual reality to promote its loyalty program.

As we evolve VR, you can imagine redeeming RBC reward points directly within the VR experience, providing a seamless journey from try to buy."
