By Adnews Staff
Toronto-based charitable organization the Canadian Women's Foundation has begun a national advertising campaign called "Girl Powered." Developed by Havas, the campaign is timed to coincide with the International Day of the Girl today. The campaign is intended to "empower girls to challenge limiting stereotypes and sexist messages in advertising by using their voice instead," according to the organization. The effort is aimed primarily at girls between the ages on nine and 13.
The effort includes an online video depicting seven girls creating a message and seeing it displayed on a digital billboard at Yonge-Dundas Square in Toronto. It also includes a website at <http://www.girlpowered.ca> and social media activities that encourage girls to share their own messages.
