Quebecor Media Group debuts full-screen online video ads

Quebecor Media Group of Montreal has introduced a new online video advertising format it calls Immersion. The format, developed in-house, makes use of high-definition video ads displayed in full-screen mode. The ads will be integrated into the company's web-based properties in such as way as to leave its navigational elements visible. The editorial content of the page is displayed below the video. The company will offer the new format in durations ranging from 30 seconds to two minutes.
"This new format makes it easy for a brand to leverage existing content and reduce video advertising production costs," said Donald Lizotte, executive vice president of advertising sales at Quebecor Media Group. "We are especially proud of this major innovation. Only a few weeks after it was put to market, it's already performing exceptionally well. Based on user tests conducted by Imarklab, a partner firm of Léger, this ad format attracts 38 times more attention than the double big-box format, and it attracts the eye 32 times more quickly than a single big-box, and users don't perceive any advertising increase on the website."
