Canadian Lentils conducts cooking show promotion
By Adnews Staff
Saskatoon-based Canadian Lentils has released a series of online videos called "Star of the Show." The five videos take the form of a cooking show featuring the winners of a national contest aimed at Canadian food bloggers. Each entrants submitted a pitch video outlining a lentil-based recipe. The winners were selected by a judging panel headed by chef and television personality Michael Smith. The winners then filmed full episodes at Smith's kitchen in Prince Edward Island. The videos have been posted at <http://www.lentils.ca>.
"Food bloggers are a great source of inspiration for home cooks," said Rachel Kehrig, director of North America market promotion at Saskatchewan Pulse Growers, the parent organization of Canadian Lentils. "Canada has an abundance of creative food bloggers who draw people in through their personality and posts. They are becoming stars in their own right. In recognizing that video is becoming an increasingly important tool for bloggers, we wanted to give them the experience of a lifetime in a top quality, television style cooking show production. And we know that it isn’t easy going from the written word to performance. That’s why we brought in cooking show host extraordinaire, Michael Smith to mentor the bloggers. The end result for each blogger is a piece of video that is worthy of food television."
