Family Channel begins chat-based campaign

Specialty television service Family Channel has begun an online promotion form its new programming block aimed at teenagers called F2N, as well as the upcoming debut a a new series called Degrassi: Next Class. The promotion, developed by Massively, makes use of an online chat system operated in association with Kik Interactive. Users of the chat can take a personality quiz and receive information about the characters from the show. According to the company, this is the first time Family Channel has undertaken this form of campaign. The promotion is located at <http://www.kik.me/F2N_TV>.

"Knowing that our audience for Family Channel, and the teens who are bound to watch F2N specifically, is technologically savvy, this new venture is a unique way for us to interact with our viewers in a setting they are not only familiar with, but dominate," said Paul Cormack, vice-president of marketing at DHX Television, owner of Family Channel. "Degrassi: Next Class is a socially-driven series where the characters are constantly on their mobile devices and the storylines are buzzworthy, encouraging viewers to stay connected and experience the drama with F2N as it unfolds."
